Daylighting (intersection design)

Daylighting is an outcome of intersection design in which sightlines are improved for both drivers and pedestrians by removing or preventing visual obstructions near intersections.

Permanent interventions, such as concrete curb extensions, are ideal for daylighting, but temporary or flexible interventions are effective choices as well. Modular barriers/poles, bike parking racks, and paint are common short-term solutions.

Some situations merely require the removal of an obstruction, such as a shrub or structure.
