Intersectionality

There are so many intersections between urbanism and other social issues, it would make so much sense to define it in the wiki for those who don’t understand.
It begs a larger discussion about what those exact intersections are : P

Honestly love having differing perspectives and viewpoints working together for a shared goal. There are so many good reasons to support good urbanism, all the way from environmental protection and tackling transportation equity to increasing the tax base and getting more value for our government spending. It allows us to have a healthy amount of critical thinking and diverse opinions rather than just an echo chamber.

I’d argue it’s more that the built form of a city is in a bit of a circular relationship with its own social issues. They serve as a foundation for each other.

A city that is designed to separate the rich from the poor will generate wealth inequality — a city with high wealth inequality will tend to design spaces that separate rich from poor.

Sometimes it’s purposeful malice, more often it’s a matter of simply not understanding each others needs and motives.
