Hey Cllr. Chabot!
Thank you for your recent words on the Green Line. Though I disagree with your positioning closer to the “re-think” side of the council divide, I appreciate what you said about this irresponsible provincial decision.
‘We should re-think this’ is too often a euphemism for ‘I don’t have an alternative plan, but I’d like to see this fail.’ Truly, we’re being courted by folks who are playing with billions of taxpayer dollars with “amateur hour” proposals.
Consider supporting us at the Green Line rally outside at noon today. We’re counting on folks like you to remind the moderate and conservative Calgarians that rapid transit is the fiscally responsible option for our city. Remind them that this is the cheapest the Green Line will ever be, and that it will only become more necessary.
We must build the downtown section in a way that does not jeopardize the effectiveness of our downtown transit, and pedestrian connections. Especially the travel speed of our trains through the bottleneck. Let’s keep fighting to get the downtown built the right way today, extend to Seton tomorrow, and start laying the groundwork for Centre St N yesterday.
Best,
Hazen “Bis”
