My comments
A group has formed in opposition of the proposal claiming that it will bring over 2 thousand residential units to the affected lot. When this degree of blatant disregard for the fabric of reality forms the basis of the opposing view on this proposal, it becomes clear to me that there is factually nothing wrong with the proposal.
This is beautiful to see in a community with such unrealized potential. Such a fantastic opportunity to bring investment into a place with great, hardworking folks who often do not receive the support they deserve. Serviced by two commercial nodes on each side of the tracks, this MU proposal is an incremental step to stitch together these sections of Bowness into what could be the most desirable main street in Calgary.
I hope this proposed use will feature small commercial units to generate opportunity for the people of Bowness, as opposed to large commercial bays that can only support large corporate retailers. I hope that this development will include a large number of units such that the businesses will be self-sustaining without parking requirements, and such that a mixed-market housing model might be considered during, or after development of the complex to bring more affordable living options to the community sustainably and inclusively.
