The Guidebook for Local Area Planning

The Guidebook for Local Area Planning[1] (originally called Guidebook for Great Communities) is a non-binding planning document that outlines the process and contents of Local Area Plans.

The document’s approval in May 2021 was the subject of great controversy, months ahead of the 2021 Municipal Election.[2] Ultimately, the document was accepted and recommended by the Planning and Urban Development Committee, but Council refused the bylaw decision which would make the document binding.
